A MAGNIFICENT LARGE SILVER MOUNTED YATAGHAN SWORD,
early to mid victorian, with 23 1/2in slightly curved blade, twin narrow fullers along the back edge, together with small silver damascening panel decoration, l/h example containing an arabic inscription, (blade cleaned, re-sharpened and slightly distorted, traces of pitting), gilded mount at the forte with applied wire-work and two red cabachon stones, gilded hilt-straps with applied coral 'seeds', cut metal-work and further applied wire-work, (minor damage and losses), large marine ivory 'eared' grips (minor chip, some age cracks, one old repair), TOGETHER WITH its original silver scabbard with pierced, gilded floral fret-work in three bands near the throat, interspersed with applied wire-work (gilding worn) applied silver bands bordering geometric panels to the body and scroll border engraving (some minor dents, tip lightly damaged)
