Provenance: The Honourable Sir Harry Stonor, G.C.V.O., was from a noble family whose home is Stonor Park, Oxfordshire. He was one of the noted shots during the age of the grand shooting parties and was in the line for the record-breaking three days at Abbeystead in 1915. He was a guest of Lord Sefton and the eight Guns (nine on the final day) over a period of three days beginning on the 12th August brought down 2,985 1/2 brace of grouse. A remarkable figure, made even more so when remembered that the season's total for that year was 8,539 brace.
During his career Stonor also spent a period as Deputy Master of the Household between 1918 - 1921.
