silver hallmarked for 1761, with slightly swamped 8 1/2in. iron barrel (cleaned) signed on the top-flat 'LONDON', London proofs and makers mark 'IB' within an oval to the breech, solid plain top-tang, border line carved and radiused lockplate signed 'BARBAR', bridled frizzen, border engraved hammer, walnut full-stock with tear-drops behind the plates and shell carving around the top-tang (tip of fore-end renewed in antiquity), silver rococco escutcheon with mask beneath, the centre engraved with a crest featuring a boar (rubbed, loss to detail), silver long-eared butt-cap relief embossed with a grotesque mask to pommel and decorated border, full pierced silver sideplate with a central vase, silver trigger-guard and tang, floral finial, silver ramrod throat and thimble with possible replacement horn ramrod
