A SCARCE 10.4mm (VETTERLI) BOLT-ACTION CARBINE, MODEL 'M71', serial no. 2590,
circa 1875, with 18 1/2in. blued barrel, blade fore-sight, elevating rear-sight, blued receiver with bolt action, the left hand side stamped 'PFENNIGER STAEFA', loading gate for the concealed tubular magazine on the right, plain walnut straight hand butt-stock, full-length wood fore-end with chequer-board chequering, iron furniture including large saddle-ring mounted on the trigger-guard tang, iron nose-cap forming the fore-sight protector and complete with an under-barrel cleaning rod, all matching numbers, traces of original original finish throughout
