A FINE 16-BORE FLINTLOCK SINGLE-BARRELLED FOWLING-PIECE, no visible serial number,
circa 1780, with swamped two-stage 38in. barrel, engraved star-burst and bead lines at intersection, applied silver bead fore-sight with an inlaid silver 'star-burst' ground, gold inlaid makers stamp at breech-end together with an engraved beaded band, hooked breech, fully florally engraved top-tang, gold-lined touch-hole, flat bevel-edged step-tailed lockplate signed 'NOCK', replacement hammer, roller-bearing frizzen, walnut hand-rail half-stock with dot and checker-board chequering to wrist, iron heel-plate with engraved top-spur, roll-edged trigger-guard bow with acorn finial, silver wire inlaid 'J.S.' monogram to side-panel, detachable fore-end with iron face-plates, full-length under-rib and original horn-tipped ramrod
