A JAPANESE SWORD 'KATANA'
the re-polished 28in. blade possibly mid 17th century, visible hamon, signature to the tang with three re-mount holes, silver 'habaki' with 'cat scratches', gilt 'seppa', signed circular blackened iron 'tsuba' carved with bamboo stems around the outer edge with bamboo leaves radiating into the centre, mounted in late Edo period mounts, possibly early 20th century and including bronze carved 'fuchi' and 'kashira', shagreen 'tsuka' with dragonfly 'menuki' under the pale orange cotton binding and a stippled matt-black 'saya' with horn mounts
