circa 1860, probably for an Adams' or Tranter type revolver, coin-edged circular brass escutcheon to lid, the interior compartmented in the English manner and lined in red velvet (faded), two lidded compartments, hook and lock closure (retaining key), external dimensions 13 1/2in. by 7 1/2in. by 2 1/4in.
