1937-1954 - HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS FROM THE WORSHIPFUL COMPANY OF GUNMAKERS, THE GUARDIANS OF THE BIRMINGHAM PROOF HOUSE, the Gun Trade Association and the British government, concerning rules and regulations in force for the protection of the UK public from 1937-1954:
a) 1937 Chapter 12 (35 pages) of the FIREARMS ACT of 1937, "An Act to consolidate the provisions of the Firearms Acts, 1920 to 1936, relating to firearms, imitation firearms and other weapons and to ammunition."
b) February 1948 - Memorandum on BLACK POWDER GUNS signed by John Rogers, Master of The Worshipful Company of Gunmakers; William Bourne, Chairman of The Guardians of the Birmingham Proof House and CE Greener, President of The Gunmakers' Association (incorporated 1912) Ltd.
c) May 1950 - NOTICE regarding The deposit of steel, chromium, or other metals on the interior of Gun barrels signed by SC Hellis, Master of The Worshipful Company of Gunmakers and Eric G Bewley, Chairman of The Guardians of the Birmingham Proof House.
d) 1953 - Original copy of the Report of the consultant, (believed to be Mr HWR Mason, BSc), appointed by the British Government to work with the Gunmakers' Livery Company over a two year period with a view to updating the 1925 Rules of Proof.
e) January 1955 - Printed statement from The Worshipful Company of Gunmakers of London and The Guardians of the Birmingham Proof House concerning the new Rules of Proof 1954 due to come into use on the 1st February 1955.
f) October 1954 - 45 page book (black cover) containing RULES OF PROOF - Rules, Regulations and Scales by the GUNMAKERS' COMPANY AND THE GUARDIANS OF THE BIRMINGHAM PROOF HOUSE effective from 1/02/1955.
