28in. nitro chopperlump barrels, the breech ends deeply and profusely carved with bold stylised acanthus, the tubes engraved 'CHARLES LANCASTER. 99. MOUNT STREET BERKELEY SQUARE LONDON.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/4 choke, some dents and pits, modern high visibility foresight, slender W. Baker patent assisted-opening action, patent no. 16778 of 22nd March 1913, with Baker patent ejectors, fences carved in relief with holly leaves on a stippled background, removable striker discs, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, gold-washed single trigger, the action carved in high relief with flowing foliole and floral motifs, the lockplates each with a brace of pheasant, the underside with a scrolling banner gold-inlaid 'CHARLES LANCASTER. LONDON.', the triggerguard with a second scrolling banner gold-inlaid 'TWELVE TWENTY', 13in. figured stock, weight 5lb. 14oz., in a brass-cornered oak and leather case with some accessories
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed in 1927 as a 'Special' for an E.H. Hunter. It is listed as being a single-trigger gun with 28in. barrels and is specified as having 'special high relief engraving'.
