26in. nitro reproved octagonal to dodecagonal turned to round bold damascus barrel (converted from muzzle loading), top flat engraved in script 'JOHN MANTON. SON. &. COE. DOVER STREET. LONDON.', (sic), 2 3/4in. chamber, bored approx. true cyl. choke, carved percussion fence, arcaded fence with gold-inlaid sight line, rebounding back-action lock with border engraving and signed 'JOHN MANTON SON & COE', double rolled-edge scrolled triggerguard underlever forming a skeletal pistolgrip, triggerguard tang with half moon protective plate and locking lug slot, the inner face of the underlever engraved 'EARL OF ASHBURNHAM', retaining much colour-hardening, 14 1/2in. unchequered stock including steel buttplate, unchequered fore-end with horn finial, weight 6lb. 15oz.
