30in. replacement nitro barrels, No.1 circa 1972 and with rib engraved 'WILLIAM EVANS LTD. 67A. ST. JAMES'S STREET. LONDON.', and gold-inlaid '1', No.2 circa 1968 and with rib engraved 'WILLIAM EVANS FROM PURDEY'S. 63, PALL MALL. ST. JAMES'S. LONDON.', and gold-inlaid '2', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, treble-grip actions, fences carved in high relief with stylised acanthus leaf motifs, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, best fine floral bouquet and acanthus scroll engraving, brushed bright finish overall, 14 1/2in. boldy-figured replacement stocks (by Holland & Holland) with engraved steel heel and toe plates, weight 6lb. 9oz., in their brass-cornered oak-lined leather case

Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this pair of shotguns were completed with 30in. barrels in August 1900 and purchased by R.R. Mearing.
