A VERY FINE .461 GIBBS FARQUHARSON METFORD MATCH RIFLE, serial no. 14159,
34 3/4in. black powder only barrel engraved 'GEORGE GIBBS, 29, CORN STREET, BRISTOL', the breech end with 'METFORD'S PATENT 1406', full complement of detachable back position match sights in their purple silk and velvet-lined case with gold tooling to lid outer 'METFORD RIFLE SIGHTS G. GIBBS, BRISTOL.', action profusely engraved with fine acanthus scrollwork and with a fine floral design to the standing breech, the left side with 'GEORGE GIBBS BRISTOL' engraved in an elaborate cartouche, the right side with 'FARQUHARSON'S PATENT 537', side mounted cocking lever, retaining much original colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/8in. figured pistolgrip stock with pistolgrip-cap and buttplate, in its full length brass-mounted oak case with some accessories
