circa 1852, with heavy round 34in. browned barrel rifled with four grooves, full-length broad flat sighting plane signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS LONDON', shallow block and blade fore-sight, folding ladder rear-sight and additional standing notch rear-sight in separate dove-tails, no visible proofs or inspectors marks, borderline engraved top-tang, borderline engraved bar-action military-style lock signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS', walnut full-stock with exposed muzzle, iron heel-plate and trigger-guard, two barrel take-down cross wedges, no barrel bands, iron muzzle-cap, no provision for bayonet, cup-headed iron ramrod and fitted with a period leather sling on iron stirrup swivels
