30 1/4in. octagonal black powder barrel with finely chequered top flat, two banners engraved 'WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO. LONDON.', and 'LONG RANGE LARGE GAME RIFLE', block mounted fore-sight and express rear sights with silver-inlaid folding leaf sights for 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 yards, the standing sight for 100 yards marked '100 & 480 Grs', the folding leaf sight for 100 yards marked '120 & 570 Grs', the breech end with the Westley triangle mark, the left of the barrel engraved 'FOR WESTLEY RICHARDS SPECIAL 3IN. TAPER CARTRIDGE. 500 BORE', the action engraved with the Westley triangle and 'WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO. LONDON.' on the left, on the right with 'PATENT', the whole with bold scrolling acanthus motifs, the rear of the action with a matted finish, retaining much original blued finish overall, the underlever and block retaining some original colour-hardening, 15 1/4in. well-figured semi-pistolgrip stock with steel buttplate with trap (brushed finish), sling eyes, detachable bolstered fore-end with horn finial, weight 9lb. 11oz.
