A FINE QUALITY WHITE-METAL AND IVORY-MOUNTED BURMESE DHA WITH SILVER-DAMASCENED BLADE,
late 19th century, with slightly curving and widening 27 1/4in. clip-point blade false-edged for the last 20in., the flat section of the back of the blade damascened with silver line-borders and scrolls, the whole surface of both sides of the blade also covered with silver scrolls on a blue-black ground except for two panels at the ricasso, the left bordered with silver and copper lines and marked 'C.H.SERRES', the right, similar but with an inscription in Burmese script, polished edges, plain white metal blade collar with ribbed, flared neck, plain white-metal pommel-cap, ivory grip-piece finely pierced with scroll-work inhabited by Burmese deities with an under-cut co-joined central column depicting two Burmese deities atop one another with their limbs reaching out through the afore mentioned scroll-work, TOGETHER WITH its hardwood scabbard, the majority of which being covered in sheet white-metal with applied beaded white-metal bands and engraved borders, the central section with two applied cast white-metal discs with relief carved figures of Burmese deities
