THE ONLY KNOWN .577 (BOXER) FULLY ENGRAVED FIVE-SHOT MANSTOPPER REVOLVER, MODEL 'TRANTER'S PATENT', serial no. 33,672,
circa 1869, with 4 1/2in. octagonal blued barrel with narrower top-flat, blued crescent fore-sight, rounded muzzle with engraved band and scrolls, further scrolls at the breech-end, border engraved flat top-strap signed 'H. HOLLAND 98 NEW BOND ST LONDON', standing notch rear-sight, borderline and fully scroll engraved blued frame marked '.577 CARTRIDGE' to the front of frame, fluted cylinder with detachable colour-hardened back-plate and scroll engraved leading edge, finely chequered walnut grip with flared pommel and border and scroll engraved blued butt-cap, scroll engraved trigger-guard bow and polished hammer and trigger, the whole in a remarkable state of preservation with the majority of its factory finish intact
