German, dated for 1872 and converted from flint, with round brushed-bright 8 1/2in. tapering barrel, cannon muzzle, blade fore-sight, standing-notch rear-sight to the top-tang, the octagonal section breech stamped with the date and a Guelphic crown over a 'F.W' monogram, plain flat bar-action lock signed 'SUHL' beneath a Guelphic crown and above 'S.C.', plain hammer, nipple safety operating on the original frizzen-spring, plain walnut half-stock, heavy brass pommel-cap stamped '24.A.3.74.', lanyard ring at heel, iron back-strap and trigger-guard tang, moulded brass trigger-guard bow with finger-spur, brass fore-end cap with integral barrel-band, no provision for ramrod, the whole in fine condition and appearing little used
