A 12-BORE 1887 PATENT 'ROUND ACTION' TRIGGERPLATE-ACTION EJECTOR, serial no. 5596,
29in. nitro damascus barrels, rib engraved '1' and 'JOHN DICKSON & SON. 63 PRINCES STREET. EDINBURGH.' and engraved with acanthus scroll motifs at the breech end, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, Dickson patent round-action incorporating patents 9399 and 10621 of 1887, use number 1079, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, bouquet and scroll engraving, 14 1/4in. figured stock, the fore-end inlet '1', weight 6lb. 5oz.
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was sold on the 18th November 1903, to a 'P. Balfour'.
