36 1/4in. black powder only damascus barrel with finely matted top, flat-top hexagonal breech section with acanthus scroll engraving and matt surround and cartouche engraved 'PATENT TREBLE WEDGE FAST NO. 3084' and address inscription 'W. W. GREENER. 68 HAYMARKET. LONDON. WINNER AT ALL THE LONDON GUN TRIALS. 1875, 1877, 1878 & 1879', Anson & Deeley patent barrel cocking action, patent no. 1756 of 11th may 1875, use number 4450, Greener treble grip patent no. 3084 of 19th September 1873, carved teardrop fences, manual side safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral detailing, retaining traces of original colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/4in. figured pistolgrip stock with decorative chequering borders, horn pistolgrip-cap and including 3/4in. rubber recoil pad (distressed), the fore-end with horn finial, missing cross-bolt, weight 12lb. 11oz., in its 'STIFFLIMP' canvas and leather slip

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed in 1881 for a Mr Redebord. It is recorded as being 'single barrel, 8-bore with 36in. barrel of 'S' iron
