AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE CASED .22 UNDER-LEVER SPRING-PISTON AIR-RIFLE MODEL 'IMPROVED MODEL 'D'', serial no. 50722,
for 1911, with blued 19 1/4in. barrel, dove-tailed fore-sight, elevating rear-sight, plain blued air-chamber marked 'THE BSA AIR RIFLE (IMPROVED MODEL D), THE BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO. LTD. ENGLAND, SOLE MANUFACTURERS', blued trigger-housing, walnut butt-stock with chequered saw-back pistol-grip, the top inlet with a factory-fitted peep-sight, iron heel-plate and trigger-guard, side-catch release for under-lever and factory fitted eyelets for sling, the whole retaining much original factory finish TOGETHER WITH its exceedingly rare cedarwood transit case, the outside of lid marked 'BSA AIR RIFLE' and initialled 'F.L.H.', the interior compartmented for the rifle and every conceivable accessory, all of which remain present including a cleaning rod, two sizes of oiling brush, a dropper oiler, a slip-lid brass container for spare seals and washers (present), two types of BSA trademarked grease, spare mainsprings, jags and mops, a canvas sling, a muzzle-mounted fore-sight protector, a BSA marked spanner and a further slip-top brass container, containing a period tin of pellets, the lid printed with an enraged cat and marked 'THE SLUG', (case locks removed and replaced with hook catches, leather carry handle absent)
