possibly Dutch or German, circa 1700, with swamped octagonal 33in. barrel, the breech deeply struck with a oval city proof-mark, provision for dove-tailed fore-sight (missing), standing notch rear-sight with additional folding leaf, engraved ball-band forwards of the solid squared top-tang, large flat angular lockplate, the wheel-cover engraved with a two-headed eagle, missing cock and linkage, unidentified makers stamp, walnut full-stock with triangular form butt, inlet rococo brass panels, provision for aperture sight behind tang (missing), carved border around lock and brass sideplate, sliding brass inlaid patchbox lid, horn heel-plate with iron heel button, brass finger-grooved trigger-guard, set trigger with 'hogs-bristle' release (broken), missing nose-cap and front ramrod pipe, ramrod absent (ironwork cleaned, some worm and other small losses throughout), the cheekpiece retaining its Weapons Collection plaque and identity disk wired to trigger-guard
