A 20-BORE PERCUSSION SILVER-MOUNTED BRASS-BARRELLED SASH-PISTOL, no visible serial number,
bearing London hallmarks for 1769 with later conversion to percussion, slightly swamped 8in. barrel, borderline engraved panel to the breech signed 'HEYLIN, CORNHILL, LONDON' and terminating in a tear-drop, moulded bands at breech and iron top-tang with sighting groove, flat, bevel-edged brass lock signed 'HEYLIN', the stepped tail with floral engraving, sliding safe behind the hammer (mainspring at fault), walnut full-stock with shell-carved apron around the top-tang, silver long-eared butt-cap with central grotesque mask, silver roll-edged engraved trigger-guard tang, bow and finial, silver pierced martial trophy sideplate and silver turned ramrod thimbles (ramrod replaced)
