AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE 16-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED FOUR-SHOT SPORTING-GUN FOR SUPERIMPOSED LOADS, no visible serial number,
circa 1835, with 32in. damascus barrels, the top-rib with moulded tram-lines and signed in gilt 'VRAI DAMAS ANGLAIS' and contained between two gilded floral sprays, the forward pair of nipples with moulded guards, the rear plain, scroll engraved rococo bordered top-tang, flat scroll engraved hump-back lockplates with dipped tails, the right signed in script 'BEUTSEL', the left 'A ST ETIENNE', four matching scroll engraved dolphin-headed hammers, walnut half-stock with longitudinally fluted butt (re-finished), 'double' single-trigger mechanism, the front trigger operating the right hand lock in sequence, the back trigger the left hand lock, scrolled flat-fronted iron trigger-guard bow and brass-tipped under-barrel ramrod
