A RARE 12-BORE 1887 PATENT SIDELEVER HAMMER EJECTOR GUN, serial no. 6469,
30in. nitro reproved barrels (likely replacements), rib re-engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND 98, NEW BOND STREET, LONDON.', and '1', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/4 choke, wall thicknesses below recommended minimum, carved percussion fences with carved feather details, rebounding back-action locks with dolphin hammers (one replaced), broad strikers, later fitted T. Perkes patent ejectors, patent no. 12176 of 8th September 1887 (first version), use number 815, fine floral bouquet and acanthus scroll engraving (refreshed in places), the top tang with '1' in a roundel, brushed and blued finish, 15 1/4in. highly-figured replacement stock and matching fore-end wood, weight 6lb. 10oz.

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was completed on the 28th November, 1883 for Mr John Baines.
There is no mention in the records of ejectors being fitted.
