A JAPANESE KATANA WITH SIGNED BLADE,
in 'shin-gunto' mounts with earlier 'tsuba', 27in. earlier blade with prominent 'hamon', military style cotton bound sharkskin 'tsuka', leather covered 'saya', some damage through damp to the fittings, blade with minor staining, complete with Japanese military sword knot
Other Notes: An old label attached to the sword states "WWII captured Japanese sword. Surrendered to: Sgt Gates in Burma, November 1945.
