29 3/4in. black powder only (possibly shortened) fine damascus barrels with fine acanthus scroll detailing at the breech ends with gold-inlaid highlights, finely file-cut rib with further scrollwork with gold and silver details, a cartouche gold-inlaid with a hand and battle axe crest and a further cartouche gold-inlaid in gothic script 'J.W. Duncan. Patentee. London.', 2 1/2in. chambers, both barrels incorporating J.W.Duncan 1875 patent internal straight longitudinal grooves, treble-grip action with lobular dolls head extension, carved percussion fences, slender sculpted toplever, sidelocks with carved dolphin hammers and incorporating J.W. Duncan patent rebound / non-rebound selector switches, provisional patent no. 4542 of 30th December 1875, the action, lockplates and furniture engraved with fine acanthus scrollwork and floral motifs, highlighted with silver and gold, the lockplates with central vignettes of running hound, 14 1/8in. highly-figured pistolgrip stock finely rounded at the grip, engraved and gold and silver highlighted steel pistolgrip-cap and with circular gold escutcheon engraved with the monogram 'J.D.', fore-end with Deeley & Edge patent release catch and steel finial engraved and highlighted en suite, weight 7lb. 3oz.
