dated for 1871, possibly produced for foreign trials and based on a Pattern '56 Enfield, with 34in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, Birmingham commercial proofs, enlarged breech with flip-up and over hinged breech-block with offset firing-pin to rear, static feed ramp, military type Tower lock, walnut three-quarter stock with iron furniture including two barrel-bands, brass heel-plate and bayonet lug mounted to right hand side of muzzle
