for 1864, with round damascus 30in. barrel, moulded short ribs to top and sides of breech, the top signed 'BOSS & CO, 73 ST JAMES'S STREET, LONDON', bead fore-sight, scrolls and band engraved at breech, moulded off-set pin support, carved shallow fence, long borderline and scroll engraved top-tang, border and scroll engraved back-action lock signed 'BOSS & CO', en-suite hammer, border and scroll engraved rounded action with Jones-type swing under-lever, chequered walnut straight hand butt-stock, engraved iron furniture, white metal oval escutcheon to underside engraved with an eagle and snake device, chequered walnut splinter fore-end with moulded horn tip, cross-key fastener and fully engraved iron
