dated for 1896, with nitro proved (2007) 21in. barrel, muzzle-cap with built-in fore-sight protector, elevating adjustable rear-sight, 'Lee-Metford' style bolt with dust-cover and turned-down handle with flat knob, magazine cut-off, wrist of action stamped 'ENFIELD 1896 LEC 1' together with a crown over 'VR', walnut full-stock, the butt with brass heel-plate, trap-door for oil-bottle and pull-through (missing), the side of butt with vacant brass disc, the wood stamped 'R.M. ENFIELD' in a circle around 'W.D.' and a broad arrow over 'I', the wrist with an armourer patch repair to right hand side and amateur initials 'G.H.G.', the fore-stock with three-quarter length walnut barrel cover and short six-round magazine attached to the rifle via a security link, the whole with a strong amount finish and complete with a period correct pattern leather sling and rear-sight cover, missing clearing rod
