being a competent marriage of earlier barrels to a later action circa 1840, with browned twist-iron 29 3/8in. barrels, the narrow top-rib signed 'W. SMITH LISLE STREET LONDON', bead fore-sight, moulded fences, platinum vented plugs, broad grooved scroll engraved top-tang, border and scroll engraved colour hardened locks, the bars signed 'PARKER FIELD & SONS', border and scroll engraved dolphin-headed hammers, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist (expertly shortened and re-extended in wood), iron furniture including numbered heel-plate, the lower tang with full-length grip safe marked 'SAFETY', white metal barrel-key escutcheons and iron tipped ebony ramrod, much period finish retained throughout
