circa 1840, with slightly tapering iron 4 1/2in. barrels, the flat sighting plane signed 'REILLY, NEW OXFORD ST LONDON' (rubbed, faint), engraved band at muzzle, scroll engraved flourish to breech, applied white-metal fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, symmetrical moulded snails, scroll engraved boxlock action with rounded edged, side mounted dolphin headed hammers, chequered walnut grip of semi Irish form, white metal clipped corner rectangular escutcheon to wrist and a complex engraved white-metal butt-cap inlet at pommel, belt hook to left hand side, guarded double trigger and iron under-rib with captive iron ramrod
