A GOOD CASED PAIR OF PERCUSSION .700 OFFICER'S PISTOLS BY LING, LONDON, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1855, with blued unsigned octagonal 6 1/4in. barrels, bead fore-sights, colour hardened breech-blocks (faded) with platinum lines, acanthus and scroll engraved top-tangs, shallow fenced snails, border and foliate engraved curved back-action locks signed 'WM. LING', walnut full-stocks with chequered bag-shaped butts, captive stirrup rammers and complete with their original fitted walnut case, lined and compartmented in green baize, parchment trade label with indented corners for 'William Ling, 61 Jermyn Street, London' and containing a period loading rod and ball mould together with a period but incorrect flask, caps and a later glass oil bottle
