A 14-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN SIGNED STEVENS, LONDON, no visible serial number,
circa 1835, with laminated 30in. barrels, raised concave sighting rib signed 'STEVENS, LONDON' (refreshed) and with bead fore-sight, moulded and shallow fenced nipple-wells with twin gold lines to rib-end, platinum vented plugs, engraved and moulded top-tang, border and acanthus scroll engraved bar-action locks signed 'STEVENS, LONDON' and with hook-screws to the tail of each lock (some shallow pitting to left lock-face), engraved dolphin-headed slab-sided hammers, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist (old crack to left underhorn), white metal rectangular escutcheon to wrist, engraved iron heel-plate, engraved trigger guard bow, barrel key with white metal oval escutcheons, engraved ramrod throat and rolled ends to the thimbles, wood ramrod lacking tip
Provenance: Thomas Stevens operated from 43 High Holborn, London between 1823-42 and was appointed as gunmaker to the Prince Regent
