A .577/450 MARTINI-HENRY ARTILLERY CARBINE SIGNED ENFIELD, no visible serial number, dated 1878, with 20 1/2 in. barrel, falling block action, receiver marked 'ENFIELD / 1878 / II / 2 / DP', bridge marked 'S . X' and 'DP', butt with faint roundel and brass butt-disc, heavily worn, metalwork heavily pitted and painted black, stock stained and sanded with losses to the fore-end, clearing rod and sling-swivels absent, butt-disc does not appear to be original
