A GOOD .750 FLINTLOCK HEAVY MANSTOPPER PISTOL, no visible serial number,
circa 1800, with slightly swamped octagonal 8in. barrel, the top-flat signed '55 CHARING CROSS LONDON', applied small blade fore-sight, engraved band at breech, engraved top-tang with pointed tail, borderline engraved bevel-edged colour hardened lock signed 'S. BRUNN' below the rainproof pan, swan necked cock with bolted safe, roller frizzen, stepped, pointed and engraved tail, walnut full-stock in the Irish manner with 'Durs' style dot and checkerboard chequering to the semi fish-tailed grip, guarded trigger and horn-tipped ramrod


Provenance: Samuel Brunn was originally apprenticed to John Knubley, taking over his business on Knubley's death in 1795. Originally located at 7 Charing Cross, he later moved the business to 55 Charing Cross and commenced trade under his own name in 1798. He only remained at this address until 1804, when he relocated to No. 56 of the same street. He was a contractor to ordnance between 1797-1809, and was bestowed 'By Appointment To Prince of Wales' (1800-1811) later becoming 'To The Prince Regent' (1812-20)
