circa 1911 and 1913, 28in. nitro reproved barrels (in 2003 and 2026 respectively), 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 3/4 choke, wall thicknesses below recommended minimum, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, hand-detachable lockplates, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, best bold Royal scroll engraving, the undersides with elaborate cartouches engraved 'ROYAL HAMMERLESS EJECTOR', 14 1/8in. figured stocks (No.2 a replacement), weight 5lb. 14oz. (No.1) and 6lb. (No.2)
Provenance: We are kindly informed by the vendor that the guns were given to their father in 1946 on his 21st birthday. He took them frequently to Scotland and North Yorkshire to shoot grouse, though they were mainly used for pheasant in East Anglia
