A .577 THREE-BAND SNIDER RIFLE, serial number C273, late 19th Century, with a 37 in. sighted barrel with three groove rifling and stamped 'C273', a commercial shoe marked 'SNIDER PATENT' with arrow and 'S' marks and a thumb latch, lock with crown and 'TOWER / 1866' badly fitting and a probable replacement, butt-plate stands proud of the butt, full stock stamped 'F A / 1880' and cracked through the wrist up into the lock, probably a 'parts' gun constructed at Fort William Arsenal in India, with cleaning rod, sling swivels and worn sling
