AN 8-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED QUADRUPLE-GRIP TOPLEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no. 13099,
circa 1885, 28 1/8in. nitro reproved barrels, raised rib engraved 'GEO. KYNOCH & CO. PORT ELIZABETH' and white-metal inlaid on the dolls-head extension with a W.P Jones trademark, quadruple-grip action likely incorporating W.P. Jones 1875 provisional patent barrel bolting design with side-clips, deeply carved percussion fences, faceted toplever, the top pf the standing breech engraved 'IMPROVED CLAW-GRIP QUADRUPLE BOLTED ACTION', rebounding back-action locks (left lockplate missing pin), border engraving, the action flats with W.P. Jones trademarks, 13 1/2in. figured pistolgrip stock with some cracks and repairs, with later 'Selous' style strengthening plates and 3/8in. buttplate, 10 1/2in. snap fore-end (repairs to iron), sling eyes (the barrel sling eye with leather covered steel barrel protector), weight 13lb. 2oz.
