A .44 (RUSSIAN) SMITH & WESSON No.3 SINGLE-ACTION REVOLVER WITH DETACHABLE SHOULDER-STOCK, serial no. 12464,
circa 1895, with 7in. barrel, raised sighting rib with maker's details and patent dates to 1877 (including re-issue in 1871), crescent fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight on the lift-up barrel latch, break-open frame retaining a strong amount of nickel-plated finish, plated auto-ejecting fluted cylinder, colour hardened trigger guard and hammer, chequered hard rubber grips, the back-strap and heel factory cut for a detachable walnut stock, with a certificate of proof and together with a period but miss-numbered stock for same, serial no. 12206, also marked with a possible British War Office 'broad arrow' stamp, the stock in a period leather carry case
