A CASED SCOTTISH 12-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN,
circa 1862, 30in. twist sighted barrels signed 'MORTIMER & SON. EDINBURGH' on the rib, engraved patent breeches each with platinum plug engraved with a rosette, border and scroll engraved tang and locks, the latter each signed 'MORTIMER & SON', figured walnut half-stock with chequered grip and fore-end, border and scroll engraved iron mounts, white metal escutcheon, and original brass-mounted ramrod with worm (worm cap missing, some surface corrosion and discolouration to iron parts), London proof marks, in original fitted case lined with green baize, the lid with Mortimer & Son trade label, the exterior with shaped brass escutcheon (case worn).
