A .577-450 (M/H) MARTINI-ACTION SPORTING RIFLE SIGNED MACPHERSON, INVERNESS, no visible serial number,
circa 1900, with blued round tapering 29in. barrel signed on the top 'J. MACPHERSON, INVERNESS', block and blade fore-sight, small carbine-sized ladder rear-sight, blued slab-sided receiver deeply engraved to the Arabian style with foliage and scrolls around a circular panel depicting a gentleman in Arab dress mounted on a camel with a similar rifle slung on his shoulder and an arabesque panel with a farsi inscription on the left, the right with an arabesque panel featuring the portrait of an Arab gentleman with crossed rifle and jambiya daggers and a lion above a wreath and clutching another jambiya in its raised paw, chequered walnut butt-stock, blued heel-plate, traces of colour to the finger-lever, chequered walnut splinter fore-end and eyelets for a sling, iron surfaces with fresh surface corrosion over much apparently original finish
