A PATTERN 1796 LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD BY OSBORN,
dates to 1800-1805, with 31in. curved single-edged blade, deep broad fullers, the tops etched on both sides, with the top half of the etching in blue and gilt, one side with two stands of arms, Royal coat-of-arms, Britannia and a mounted Hussar, the other with three stands of arms, Royal cypher, Britannia and an angel, the forte engraved 'H. Osborn / Bordesley / Birmingham' (Osborn worked from this address 1800-1805) plus a stamped 'G', hilt with stirrup guard and wire-bound leather grip, no scabbard, one langet absent, later sword-knot
