circa 1900, with 12 1/4in. blued tapering barrel fitted with a full-length matted sighting rib, bead fore-sight, scroll engraved panels to the sides at breech, border and scroll engraved colour hardened rounded action with a swing under-lever, borderline and scroll engraved top-tang with matted surface to standing breech, borderline and scroll engraved back-action lock signed 'JOHN WILKES' and with safety bolt behind the engraved hammer, walnut pistol-grip chequered in contrasting styles and formed from two or more pieces, ebony grip-cap, chequered walnut diminutive snap-on fore-end, the underside of barrel further signed 'JOHN WILKES, LONDON'
