for 1879, 30in. nitro reproved bold damascus barrels (in 2006), the rib engraved 'CHARLES LANCASTER. 151. NEW BOND STREET. LONDON. "PATENT BREECH LOADER" CHOKE', 2 3/4in. chambers, right wall at 15-, action incorporating J. Purdey patent push-forward underlever, patent no. 1104 of 2nd May 1863, carved percussion fences, rebounding back-action locks with low-spurred hammers of hare's-ear form, the breasts of the hammers striking the firing pins, fine acanthus scroll engraving with ornate bordering, the lockplates with 'C. LANCASTER'S PATENT. LONDON.' in scrolling banners, the action bar with 'CHARLES LANCASTER'S PATENT' to the sides, skeletal steel pistolgrip, 14 1/2in. figured stock with steel heel and toe plates, weight 5lb. 6oz.
