23in. blued nitro barrel signed 'J. RIGBY & CO. LONDON. ENGLAND', matt ramp-mounted bead fore-sight with flip-over moon-sight, block-mounted rear-sight of one standing and two folding leaves calibrated to 200 yards, blued receiver engraved 'RIGBY'S SPECIAL .416 BORE FOR BIG GAME' on the receiver-ring, fitted with a Schmidt & Bender 1 1/2-6x telescopic sight in quick detachable side-mount, the rings signed 'J. RIGBY & CO. LONDON' and 'CAL .416 NO. 4636', 14 1/8in. figured pistolgrip stock including 7/8in. rubber recoil-pad, raised cheekpiece, chequered grip and fore-end, magazine floor-plate engraved with scrollwork and 'RIGBY .416', dark horn fore-end cap, gold escutcheon, sling mounts.
Other Notes: The makers have kindly confirmed that this rifle was completed in 1920 for a Mr. F. Morgans as a .350 Magnum. It was subsequently rebuilt as a .416 by the factory in 1988, the initials of one of Rigby's riflesmiths appearing on the underside of the barrel.
