A FINE PAIR OF 32-BORE ITALIAN ORNATE FLINTLOCK PISTOLS, POSSIBLY FOR A BOY,
circa 1760, 7 1/2in bright steel tapering barrels with a silver inlaid romanesque bust on a rococco scroll surround near the breech, short relief-engraved tapering ribs inscribed 'C MVTTI', banana-shaped bevelled edge locks with floral relief-chased motifs to the tail, hammer-body, top-jaw, frizzen and bridge, burr-walnut full-stocks finely relief carved en-suite with the metalwork, brass furniture relief chased with swags and floral scrolls, inlaid silver bust to the side-plates and trigger guard, long-spurred butt cap similarly chased with three further silver busts, fancy escutcheon in the same fashion to the wrist and original brass-tipped wooden rammers (bright-work with some areas of discolouration, one pistol with old repair to forend).
