first half of the 18th century, possibly for issue to an English Horseman, with 33in double-edged blade, two short, narrow fullers at the ricasso flanking a wide central fuller running for one third of the blade length, terminating in a blade makers mark of two intertwined 'C's', complex steel basket with panels featuring typical pierced decoration, wire bound sharkskin grip (a later sympathetic replacement) and bun-shaped pommel (some discolouration to hilt, blade cleaned and polished)
