A SCARCE .451 (WHITWORTH) PERCUSSION MATCH RIFLE, serial no E76
circa 1865, with re-blued, round 36in sighted barrel, adjustable bead foresight with dovetail for tunnel (missing), micro adjustable elevating ladder rearsight and provision for vernier tang sight (missing), the breech end signed 'J W EDGE MANCHESTER' and 'EDGE'S PATENT No 76', underside of barrel marked 'FAULKNER' together with the serial number, military style border lined lock signed ' J.W. EDGE' together with a crown over the letter 'E', sliding safety forward of the hammer, figured walnut half-stock, fully chequered at the wrist and forend, steel heel plate, blued steel 'pistol grip' trigger guard and shaped horn forend tip, no provision for ramrod, good traces of original colour remaining on furniture.
