probably mid 19th century, with 18in. slightly curved unsigned blade, traces of 'hamon' , flattened oval iron 'tsuba' (pitted) with applied decoration, white ray-skin 'same' with a warrior and owl? 'menuki' and cotton binding, the black laquered 'saya' with provision for 'kozuka', (missing), blade with slight edge damage, mild patches of polished pitting, 'saya' worn with minor losses
