KINGS IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29 1866 OCTOBER 16 1860' together with South African military stamps of a broad arrow within a letter 'U', dove-tailed nickel-bladed fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, plain receiver with sliding dust-cover, top-tang drilled for peep-sight, fitted with keeper-screws and marked 'MODEL 1873' (faint), walnut straight-hand butt-stock with iron crescent heel-plate fitted with sliding central trap-door, single set-trigger, brass cartridge-lifter with calibre designation, plain walnut fore-end, under-barrel full-length magazine, fitted with eyelets for the Winchester sling, the whole being an old refinish
